I was working this saturday night and we got a donation of fried shrimp, fries, and cornbread for dinner from a resturand called Uncle Bubba's, a relative of Paula Dean. It was some deep southern food! So since I have been here, this is my idea of all southern food-greasy, everything is fried (the southern way to say it is fri-d), and the cornbread is used to soak up all the grease. Because everything i have hearn about southern food is there is always cornbread. I honestly don't think I could have handled so much grease if i grew up down here.
One of the other staff told me that even being in a different area of the U.S. is like a culture shock. And it is so true! Filled with unfamiliar activities, foods, languages, and even the way people look at you. Crazy South! And yet I love it!!
Be sure and read my updated list of what you would never see or hear in St. Louis below this post.
